Virtual Sigtseeing in Hall in Tyrol

Unique Worldwide - Virtual Online Tour of Hall in Tirol
Innovative technology meets an historical town center: the medieval Old Town of Hall in Austria presents itself in an absolutely unique way on the World Wide Web. For the very first time, a town's historical quarter has been completely captured using 360° video technology and linked with geo-reference data. With the help of special software developed by the GPixS 360 company from Salzburg, guests are able to visit this old town on the River Inn, its history rooted in salt and trade, just as if they were actually strolling through the town in person.

During a virtual tour of the town, visitors have the opportunity to stop whenever or wherever they want, taking a complete 360° look around, and even "walk" backwards along the route they have just come. "The secret lies in the software our company developed in-house. In the outdoors world, our system has already created a major presence for us, including the presentation of hiking trails and bike paths. In Hall, however, for the first time we were able to capture an entire historical quarter in the same way, which was a very interesting project for us and quite a challenge.", states Andreas Breitschädel of GPixS 360, continuing: "The camera is supplied by an innovative foreign company, whereas we developed the software for the 360° recording and the integration with GPS data ourselves. Which makes the realization of this walking tour of Hall an absolutely unique achievement in this field."

True to the motto "State-of-the-art technology meets the Middle Ages", the town walking tour, which is offered along two different routes (the Old Town and Hasegg Castle), also features so-called POIs: Twelve special points in the town provide information about the history, unique aspects and points of interest in three languages (German, English, Italian). In addition, short video sequences, such as the one along the walking tour around Hasegg Castle about the Hall Mint, provide detailed information in an appealing form.

"We wish to offer our guests a very different perspective on city travel. More modern, more innovative, and also more practical. Our virtual walking tour gives guests an opportunity to acquaint themselves with our town even before they arrive in person, picking up all kinds of fascinating information and learning about all the unique aspects of Hall. Furthermore, our visitors can use this tour to indulge themselves in vacation memories after their return home, as well as show their family and friends the beauty of our town.", Ingunn Bindhammer, Executive Director of the Hall-Wattens regional tourist office, adds enthusiastically.

In the upcoming months, further data will continue being integrated into this virtual walking tour of the town, allowing guests and locals alike to experience the steadily growing opportunities the Gall-Wattens region has to offer by means of this virtual world. The old town of hall is situated close to the Karwendel Mountains. Don´t miss the nature reserve Karwendel too.
