Hiking tour to Lamsenjochhütte in Karwendel Alps

Hike Alps: Lamsenjochhütte in Karwendel, Austrian Alps

This trekking tour in the Karwendel mountains starts in the little village Hinterriss. There are 750 meters up and down to hike, the distance is 12 Kilometers. Strarting point is the parking space at the end of the toll road from Hinterriss to Eng.

The hike to Lamsenjochhütte and back can be done as round trip combined with the magnificent Karwendel Panorama. From the green pastures at the well known huts of Engalm, you pass different vegetation zones to reach the high region. There you find the Lamsenjochhüte - in a unique position, surrounded by wild jagged shapes. It´s located more than hundred years an provides not only protection and shelter but also hearty Tyrolean fare. It´s nice to take place in front of the Lamsenjochhütte and enjoy the beautiful landscape - but keep in mind: You need time to go back in the valley - and terrace in front of the Binsalm is nice too. But first off all, how to get to the Lamsenjochhütte: From the parking lot you follow the signs directly to the huts of Engalm.  This is the largest mountain village in Tyrol with cheese factory and restaurant (typical tyrolean food). From there you go the little mountain road to the Binsalm. Signs show you the way.
On the beautifully landscaped Binsalm hut you can visit the little alpin chapel. The chapel at the Binsalm is made from local materials. Above the chapel you follow the hiking path through green floors up to Western Lamsenjoch. Beyond the saddle you walk almost flat to Lamsenjochhütte - high above the Falzthurntal.  Back the same way. The hike may be gone by families, according to condition of the children.
